This recipe will appear in the upcoming cookbook by the blog, They Draw and Cook. Thrilled and thankful to be part of such great endeavor.
I’m thinking about Christmas, the gift giving season, the holiday of high expectations. I haven’t printed via my letterpress for over a year. A year! So many excuses but really who wants to hear them. I don’t. I uploaded last year’s work. This year like lose marbles in my head ideas are rolling and colliding. It explains the headaches.
Once September hits back-to-school is over. Here come the holidays. Etsy, here I come!
A stack of cupcakes for a birthday design. I created it including the lettering with a ruling pen on toothy paper. I got an assist from computer magic. I like to share. Mmm, tasty!
I attended bridal showers as a server for my parents’ catering biz. These bridal showers seemed like happy occasions. I tried to evoke that emotion by having gifts jump for joy. I thought the tone on tone tiles created an appropriate setting for these electric appliances.
I included an updated Get Well design. I simplified the background and increased the scale of the line work.
If you think these designs might fit into your line please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Watercolor paper, ruling pen, ink and loose wrist and arm. This technique suits me. It’s fast and the result are energetic line art. A little computer magic and they could be part of an interesting composition. Those to follow soon.

It’s Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial beginning of summer. Time to pull out the grill and toss a couple of steaks over glowing charcoal. I created these tiny T-bones and plastic flatware with a ruling pen. The tablecloth background is a series of gouche washes. The pattern was created with computer magic. I think the male in your house might wear an apron with this pattern. At the very least he’ll use the oven mitt.

Nate and Salli from Studio SSS invited friends, artists, illustrators and designers to submit a favorite recipe for Nate’s blog, They Draw and Cook. I did. North African Lettuce Chicken connotes complicated. Ha! It’s too easy. Since I received this recipe some years ago from my subscription to The Splendid Table newsletter my partner and I make it a regular weeknight menu item. The design was a compilation of my ruling pen drawings and lettering, and computer magic. Click on it for a larger view.

A ruling pen and toothy watercolor paper gave the line work energy. The color gave it life. The drawings are available so please don’t hesitate to contact me. They would look so cute on a roll of wrapping paper or wall paper.

This composition was derived from a mess of spontaneous drawings using a ruling pen. Makes you thirsty, huh? If you like what you see please don’t hesitate to contact me for the full pattern. Let’s talk.
