I enjoyed the process of drawing and designing these cards. The printing process, less enjoyable for the challenges. It’s a 3-color project on a Kelsey. The added dimension was the amount of passes to print the art. The chase is small so 3 passes of color times many turns and orientations of the paper equalled the biggest small job. I learned my lesson.

1st Easter Letterpress card

…another old printing project I found from the early 2000s. For Easter I drew the composition of Mr. Bun, eggs and dotted line. Once the composition became a magnesium plate I printed the art on computer generated stripes then glued handmade paper (the purple “flower field” ) where Mr. Bun’s bounding and disturbing the eggs. Wascally wabbit! BTW I hand set the “Happy Spring.” First and last time I set type. Frustrating experience.

I attended bridal showers as a server for my parents’ catering biz. These bridal showers seemed like happy occasions. I tried to evoke that emotion by having gifts jump for joy. I thought the tone on tone tiles created an appropriate setting for these electric appliances.

I included an updated Get Well design. I simplified the background and increased the scale of the line work.

The same night I drew the oranges and lemons I drew flowers . Again after a little computer magic…I sent the file to Spoonflower who printed my pattern on organic cotton sateen. My mom sewed pillows. The pattern is available. Let’s talk.
